Sauna Planning Tips
Reservation Tips
Book Early: Floating saunas (KOK, GreenBoats, Badstuforening) and luxury spas (THE THIEF, Sommerro) book up early in summer — reserve 2–3 weeks ahead.
Best Timing: Early evening (17:00–19:00) gives best light and fjord views in June.
Family Access
Family-Friendly:
- Artesia Spa and private KOK/GreenBoats sessions → OK for supervised kids
- Most other saunas → 16+ only
What to Bring: Swimsuits, flip-flops, towel, and water bottle (some provide all)
Unique Experience
Try one traditional hotel sauna and one floating fjord sauna for contrast — it's the quintessential Oslo wellness experience!
Recommended Combo:
- Morning: Artesia Spa at the hotel (relaxing start)
- Evening: Oslo Badstuforening floating sauna (sunset fjord swim)
June Weather Considerations
In June, Oslo has long daylight hours (18-20 hours of daylight), making evening sauna sessions particularly magical. The fjord water will be cool but refreshing (around 12-15°C / 54-59°F), perfect for the traditional hot-cold sauna experience.
The floating saunas offer an authentic Norwegian experience — locals swim in the fjord year-round, and June is one of the most pleasant times to try it!
